Friday 12 July 2013 will offer the opportunity to support the exceptional work of Birmingham Children’s Hospital by taking part in ‘The Big Bandage’ event.   All are welcome to play their part in celebrating the world class children’s hospital in Birmingham and wear a bandage to show their support and donate £1.

Nicklin Transit Packaging are gearing up to take part in the event and wear their bandages with pride to show their support for the region’s children and families when they need it most.  Danny Harrison, Business Development Manager of Nicklin Transit Packaging said: “We urge fellow Made in the Midlands members to join us by taking part and help raise funds and support such a special cause.”  He added:  “Birmingham Children’s Hospital have recently reached a major milestone by celebrating their 150th birthday and we too are also marking our 100th year.”

The opportunity is open to all and whether you wrap it around your arm, your leg, your head or your boss the event will raise much needed funds to enable Birmingham Children’s Hospital to continue making a vital difference to the lives of thousands of young people and their families on a daily basis.

The fundraising event will continue to support numerous research projects into childhood dieseases and their cures. Research, conducted here at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, has in the last year helped in the earlier diagnosing of brain tumours in children.

Fundraising is also important to enable investment in state-of-the-art equipment to better treat their young patients.  They have, for example, recently purchased an ECMO Machine, which acts as a mechanical heart to help keep children with complex heart conditions in a stable condition whilst they build up their strength.

To ensure their patients still have a childhood, Birmingham Children’s Hospital also allocate donations towards specialist toys, arts and craft materials, giggle doctors and therapy sessions.
